Welcome Family Spirit Keepers
A Family Spirit Keeper is one who facilitates and guides the family in staying connected, watches over and supports the growth, health, spirit of all and manages the everyday dynamics of the family. We learn, teach and learn again how to communicate, educate, reflect, celebrate, grieve and create.
Being the Keeper of a family can be overwhelming. Balancing so many needs and feelings and ideals can feel daunting and lonely. Sometimes we need support and guidance – a little help reflecting, creating and becoming. Guidance and community may be just what is needed.
Family Spirit Keepers offers personal coaching and a private network where Keepers and homeschoolers can connect and create a tribe of like minded families to learn and play with. We offer regular parenting and educational workshops and courses in self and family paradigm revelation to help you discover your living and learning partners and create your own community.
My name is Malia Daguio – Silversmith, I am a learning and growth facilitator for families choosing to live more intentionally in all aspects of family living, including parenting, education and the spirit or dynamic connections of the family.
My background includes 15 years experience in play based, self-directed learning, Reggio inspired education, as well as, 24 years of training and experience in life coaching, energetic, holistic healing, and Chinese Medicine. I have experience in Parent Effectiveness Training, Parenting from the Heart, Non-Violent Communication, Self- Parenting and more.
My homeschooling journey began with teaching my nieces 19 years ago and then I began homeschooling my own children in 2012.
This all has given me a somewhat unique perspective that has informed me over and over again that the work of learning, of being and becoming never really changes no matter the age; we just sort of play in new sandboxes.
My primary intentions are two-fold
To offer guidance and support for families in the creation and practice of parenting and educational ideals
To facilitate the re-emergence of community as a central foundation so that change can be supportive and long lasting
I hadn’t the faintest idea of the kind of journey my family and I would embark on since meeting Malia. But my gut instinct told me that with her I would find inspiration,, insight, and willingness to take my hand as I made the decision to put my career on hold in order to invest the next precious years in homeschooling our sons. Malia is not one to tell you what to do or how to do it. There are plenty of people willing to give prescriptive advice on how to parent or the best way to teach.
Malia spent the time to know each of us, our family, our values, traditions, and passions, both individually and collectively. With gentle, loving and honest conversation, she helped guide me toward what my family needed in order to find the most meaningful ways to facilitate our boys’ own education, while creating a closer bond in the process. Not only did she help me discover more about myself as a mother, and a teacher, but the most important discoveries about my own spirit, and those of my boys took place through the learning and the experiences we had with Malia. I would not be the same person I am today without Malia, nor would my family be so closely connected on a spiritual level the way we are. Since the time we spent working with Malia, we have now embarked into the next phases of our life. It is clear to me how each of us has spread our wings with a little more confidence and a little more love of exploring the unknown…because of the seeds that Malia helped us plant within each of us. We are forever loving and forever grateful.
“You have kept me grounded when I felt lost or swallowed by life. You continue to encourage and support me as I grow as Human, parent, wife and friend.” Kristin Takamori
“Your wisdom, kindness and light has been a blessing and our family feels deeply grateful for it all. There are many nuggets from each and every conversation I had with you; from how “a simple morning tea making ritual can be healing” to helping us wrap up and finalize our decision making process on the journey of homeschooling as a family!” – Salome Moshfegh-Shieh
